<aside> 💡 AI is no longer a futuristic concept
As we all know, AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a present-day... [insert what applies to your course 😃 ]. The question is no longer whether AI has a role in education but rather how best to integrate AI as a collaborative partner and prepare our students with the necessary skills for an AI-enhanced future.
Last year, in the AI In Education panel discussion hosted by the Strategic Marketing & Digital Technologies Disciplinary Area, Professor Angela Paladino from the University of Melbourne presented the results of her experiment with The StatBot, an IBM Watson Virtual Assistant. She concluded that generative AI has the potential to transform the student experience by providing personalised learning support, boosting students' confidence, and helping them better understand course concepts.
B2B expert Sobia Mughal and Kat Waters, a marketing team lead from ElementX, shared insights on how adaptability and continuous learning are becoming essential for graduates. It's about more than just graduates' ability to apply AI tools; they need to be comfortable with the idea that the skills and experiences they have today may not be useful tomorrow.
The panellists also noted the need for ongoing vigilance and ethical frameworks in AI's educational applications. Developing trust in AI will undoubtedly take time. Still, it's important to remember that when calculators first emerged, people questioned their accuracy in complex math calculations, but those doubts are no longer present.
This page, hosted on Notion, one of the best AI-empowered platforms, presents some examples and resources from undergraduate and postgraduate digital marketing courses. We hope that they will inspire our colleagues to experiment more with AI. As always, your questions and suggestions are very welcome! Thank you!
